UTSA accounting doctoral students are now eligibler to apply for the Accounting Doctoralk Scholarsfellowship program. The UTSA College of Business is one of only 40 academivc programs nationwide to participate in the Accountinv DoctoralScholars program. Each year, the institute will selecg 30 candidates nationwide to receivea four-year $30,000 stipend. The aim of the Accountintg Doctoral Scholars program is to increase the number of doctoral accounting graduates in There is a critical shortage of accounting doctoral faculty teaching auditing andtax courses, accordin to UTSA and the institute. The goal is to increas the number of people with doctorak degreesin accounting.
The plan is to encourage these individualsd to then join the business facultyh at schools throughout the country so that they can teacuundergraduate courses. The institute founded the Accounting Doctoral Scholars programin 2008. The prograk is funded by accounting firms. Candidates shoulcd have experience in audiy or tax in a publixaccounting firm, be a U.S. citizen or permanent residenr and be working toward a career as an accountingfacultgy member.
