Dr. John C. Price created the Melvin L. Pricer M.D. and Charles A. Price D.D.S. Endowmen for Cardiology Fellowship Training to supporgtyoung doctors’ education as they learn the nuances of treatintg heart disease, the leading cause of death in the United Price’s brothers both died of cardiovascular disease. Price said he wanted to establisb the endowment to ensure that UTMB can train more cardiologistw who will be skilled at helping patients with heart problems makefull recoveries.
The value of the endowment wasnot “The twin goals are to provide more effectivde therapy for those with heart disease and to encourage earlg identification of individuals at risk for subsequent interventiohn to modify and ultimately prevenr the morbidity of cardiac and vascular disease,” said a head and neck surgeon. In addition to his recent endowment, Price has contributed to cardiology research at the universitgy to aid the development of new treatmente and procedures that reduce functional impairment and deatjh fromcardiovascular disease.
