Developer William Shaw and couldn’t come up with financing for the hotel and conference which was to be called the Sprinb Green Lodge and located atUniversity SIUE’s research and technolog y park, according to university spokesmanh Gregory Conroy. The project, first announcede in 2004, died in 2007 when a ground leases between SIU and WLS expired following extension s forthe project. SIUE filed a declaratoryg judgment action Monday inMadisom County, Ill., seeking to have the court bring legal closurre to its hotel conferenc e center project.
If approved, WLS would have to remove all constructio equipment and materials and removed the building foundation it constructed to comply with the terms ofthe lease, Conroy said. That would free up the located at Illinois Route 157 and University Park to become available for leasreand development, the university University Park currently has 23 tenants representing a numbefr of business sectors including agricultural biotechnology, health sciences, desighn professionals and information technology.
The most recent announcedx addition to the park is the Bloods Processing Center and National Testing The American Red Cross plans to move toa 15-acrd site at University Park Drive and South Research Drive and bring more than 500 jobs to the
